How Do I Increase The Volume Of My BOSS GT-10 Patches?

[NOTE: Changing the volume of a BOSS GT-10 patch the wrong way will also change the sound of the patch and/or change how the ASSIGN section was originally setup to function.]
OPTION 1 [Easy and safest way]:
1. Press the MASTER/PEDAL FX button on the BOSS GT-10.
2. Press the left-arrow button until you have selected the MASTER option.
3. Press the ENTER button to enter the MASTER section.
4. Press the ENTER button again to change the Patch Level: to increase the patch volume. [Note: If you have set the Patch Level to 200 and the patch is still not loud enough, then I recommend you put that Patch Level at 100 and increase the patch volume using OPTION 2 below.]
OPTION 2:
1. Press the MASTER/PEDAL FX button on the BOSS GT-10.
2. Press the RIGHT-arrow button until you have highlighted the FX CHAIN option.
3. Press the ENTER button to go into that FX CHAIN section.
4. Find out which one of these 5-items comes last in the Effects Chain: CMP (COMP/Compressor), Ch-A/Ch-B (PREAMP), EQ, FX1 [Only if it is set to Graphic EQ/Para EQ; Ignore it if it is set to anything else], FX2 [Only if it is set to Graphic EQ/Para EQ; Ignore it if it is set to anything else],
5. Change the Level: of the item you found last in the Effects Chain so the patch is at the Level you like best (but remember what level it was at; write it down for step 6 below). [Example: If you discovered FX2 (which is set to Graphic EQ) comes after all the other 4-items (listed above) in the Effects Chain, the press the EXIT button 2-times, press the FX-2 button, press the DOWN-arrow button until you reached the bottom where it says Level:, and change the Level: setting so the patch is at the volume you like best; Remember what you set the Level: to by writing it down for step 6 below]
6. Whatever Level: you ended up changing [Compressor, Preamp, EQ, FX-1, FX2] you need to make sure that you change it in the ASSIGN section as well (if it is in there). [To do that: Press the MASTER/PEDAL FX button, press the right/left-arrow buttons until you highlight the ASSIGN option, press the ENTER button to go into the ASSIGN section. If any of the numbers at the bottom-left are highlighted in black, press the left/right arrow buttons to view those number-ASSIGNS to see if any of them were set to change the Level: you changed above (in step 5); If none of the black-highlighted number-ASSIGN's are set to change the Level: you changed (in step 5 above), then you are finished. If however you see that one of the black-highlighted ASSIGN's is set to change the Level: you changed (in step 5 above), then you also need to adjust that ASSIGN so it works as intended.]

BOSS GT-10 Help, FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

How Do I Install Patches Into My BOSS GT-10?

1. First download and install the GT-10 USB Driver by visiting this webpage: http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=941 [When you are on that webpage click DOWNLOADS, then download and install the GT-10 USB Driver; You may have to re-start your computer for the driver to activate].
2. Then download and install the GT-10 Librarian Version 1.00 software from this webpage: http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=941 [When you are on that webpage Click DOWNLOADS, then download and install the GT-10 Librarian Version 1.00].
3. Open the GT-10 Librarian Version 1.00 software you just installed, click the SETUP menu at the top, click the Setup MIDI Devices option, then change both the Input: and Output: to BOSS GT-10; and then click OK.
4. Connect a USB-cable to your BOSS GT-10 and computer.
5. Make sure the BOSS GT-10 is powered ON.
6. A BOSS GT-10 patch by James Limborg will be e-mailed to you in a .ZIP file. Each .zip file contains 3-files (.mid .gxg .syx); You will only need the .mid file when importing that BOSS GT-10 patch into the GT-10 Librarian Version 1.00 software. UN-ZIP the file/s you received from James Limborg (and remember the location on the hard-drive where you un-zipped the file/s). I use a program called 7-ZIP which you can download for free here: http://download.cnet.com/7-Zip/3000-2250_4-10045185.html?tag=mncol;4
7. On your computer open the GT-10 Librarian Version 1.00 software (if it is not already open). Click the FILE menu at the top left, select Import SMF…, then search your computer for the BOSS GT-10 patch files you previously un-zipped and select one of the .mid files. This will load my BOSS GT-10 patch file into the GT-10 Librarian 1.00 software; and you should see the patch name listed in the Main Window under PatchName and to the right of Number U01-1.
8. Click the ‘Temporary Write’ check-box to the left of Number U01-1 one-time and the BOSS GT-10 patch will ‘temporarily’ be placed into the U01-1 user-preset in the BOSS GT-10. You must click the ‘Temporary Write’ check-box again (or press the WRITE button on the BOSS GT-10) to SAVE that patch into the BOSS GT-10 ‘permanently’.
9. Now you can move that patch to any user-preset you want by pressing the WRITE button on the BOSS GT-10, turning the dial on the BOSS GT-10 to select one of the other user-presets [U01-1 to U50-4], and pressing WRITE again to save the patch to the user-preset you selected.
